ORANG UTAN - BANGKAL, WILD LIFE & ORCHID TOUR
5 Days / 4 Nights
DAY
01. PANGKALAN BUN AIRPORT - TANJUNG PUTING (L,D)
Upon arrival at Iskandar Aiport of Pangkalan Bun our
guide will meet you and bring you in about half an hour to
Kumai at the
Sekonyer River. We will have lunch at a local
restaurant. Then we board a "klotok" (local wooden
boat) and go up the Sekonyer River to our
accommodation at the
Rimba Lodge in Tanjung Puting National Park. If
time permits we will make a short trip up the river where we
might spot several kinds of monkeys. One of the species
living here is the long-nosed Proboscis Monkey or
Bekantan (Nasalis larvatus).
DAY 02. RIMBA LODGE & CAMP LEAKY (B,L,D)
After breakfast at the Rimba Lodge we will have a
full day excursion through the Tanjung Puting National
Park to see agile gibbons, black handed gibbons,
gray gibbons, proboscis monkeys, crab-eating macaques,
larges dragonflies, a several large birds such as hornbills,
eagles & kingfishers. With a little more patience we may see
an estuarine crocodile (Crocodylus porosus). We go up
the river to
Camp Leaky, the Orang Utan
rehabilitation center. We will make an about two hours'
walk through the forest and will return to the camp for
having lunch. Around 3.00 pm we walk to the feeding place of
orang utan that have been returned to the wild. About 5.00
pm we will return to
Rimba Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 03. RIMBA LODGE - BANGKAL (B,L,D)
After breakfast we will leave for the traditional Dayak
village of Bangkal. On the way we will pass large
rubber and oil palm plantations. In the evening we will
watch a traditional healing ceremony led by a
medicine man. We will stay overnight at a losmen in Bangkal.
DAY 04. BANGKAL - PANGKALAN BUN (B,L,D)
In the morning we will go on a hike in the jungle to see orchids and
red palms. Later in the day we return to Pangkalan Bun for
dinner and accommodation at a hotel.
DAY 05. PANGKALAN BUN - AIRPORT (B)
After breakfast we leave for the airport to catch your flight to
your next destination.
