DAY 01. ARRIVAL IN MEDAN / CITY TOUR (L,D)
After arrival in Medan our guide will meet you in
the airport and accompany you on a Medan city tour among others
passing the remaining Dutch, English, Chinese and Malay style
buildings.
After the city tour we drive to the orang utan rehabilitation
centre in Bohorok/Bukit Lawang. On the way we pass many
rubber and palmoil plantations. In this impressive nature reserve
you can see the orang utans feeding in their natural environment.
The visit to the centre involves a 45 minutes walk through the
jungle to reach the feeding grounds of the orang utan. The sportive
hiker can make exciting jungle trips here. However walkers must be
fit and have suitable shoes with good grip. We stay overnight in a hotel on the
banks of the beautiful Bohorok rivier.
DAY 02. BUKIT LAWANG - RAFTING (B,L,D)
We will take you to Mariki, the starting point of the Wampu river
rafting. This Wampu river rafting trip is a fascinating adventure with many
grade 2 rapids. The trip takes about 4 hours down the Wampu river. You will be
joined by some local guides. The minimum age for participants is 10 years. You
will enjoy the beautiful nature, seen from the wide jungle river surrounded by
unspoiled impressive rainforest. Half way we will make a stop at a waterfall
where you can take a fresh shower. Here we will have lunch in the open air.
After lunch we will continue the rafting for about 2 more hours until the bridge
in the Bohorok river. After arrival in Bohorok we will bring you back to
your hotel.
DAY 03. BUKIT LAWANG - BRASTAGI (B,L,D)
We will make a trip along a fascinating route to the cool mountain resort of
Brastagi in the Karo Highlands. From Brastagi you have a nice view
at two active volcanoes, the Sibayak and the Sinabung. We stay overnight in
Brastagi.
DAY 04. BRASTAGI - SAMOSIR, LAKE TOBA (B,L,D)
We will follow a beautiful route through the Karo highlands via
pineapple, clove and ginger plantations. During the trip we will stop at the
tribal kings' house of the Simalungun Batak in Pematang Purba and
at the Sipiso Piso Falls. In the afternoon we arrive in Prapat
from where we cross Lake Toba to the island of Samosir. The car
goes with us. We will stay overnight on Samosir Island. Your hotel is situated
right at the lake side.
DAY 05. SAMOSIR - TOUR TO TOMOK, AMBARITA AND
SUMANINDO (B,L,D)
On magnificent Samosir Island we visit some typical Toba Batak
villages: Tomok with its kings' tombs, Ambarita with its megalith
execution tables and in Simanindo you can see traditional Batak dances.
We will stay overnight on Samosir Island.
DAY 06. SAMOSIR - MEDAN BY THE PLANTATION ROUTE (B,L,D)
Today we drive back to Medan along endless palm tree, rubber and cacao
plantations and through the historic city of Pematang Siantar. We suggest to
take a break at the hotel Siantar, that was built in 1912. Around noon we will
arrive in Medan where we will stay overnight in Hotel Deli River
DAY 07. TRANSFER TO AIRPORT (B)
Transfer to the Medan airport to catch your flight to your next destination.
