DAY 01. ARRIVAL IN MEDAN / TRANSFER IN (D)
We will fetch you from the airport and transfer to Hotel Deli River for overnight stay, nicely situated in a tropical garden with beautifull view to the Deli River. Here you can rest after the long journey or walk.
DAY 02. MEDAN - SAMOSIR VIA BRASTAGI (B,L,D)
Impressive route through the jungle to the mountain village of Brastagi in the Karo highlands. After a stop in Brastagi we continue the route to Lake Toba via pineapple, clove and ginger plantations. Stops en route at the tribal kings' house of the Simalungun Batak in Pematang Purba and the Sipisopiso falls. In the afternoon we arrive in Prapat at the famous Lake Toba from where we cross over to the island of Samosir. The car goes with us. Overnight stay on Samosir island right on the lakeside.
DAY 03. SAMOSIR - TOUR TO TOMOK, AMBARITA AND SIMANINDO (B,L,D)
On this beautiful island you can visit the typical Toba Batak villages: Tomok with its kings' tombs, Ambarita with its execution tables and in Simanindo you can see traditional Batak dances. Overnight stay on Samosir.
DAY 04. SAMOSIR - PADANG SIDEMPUAN / SIPIROK (B,L,D)
In the early morning you will cross the lake to Prapat from where you leave for Padang Sidempuan. Along the southern shores of lake Toba with its lovely ricefields and huge Batak kings' graves you travel through the Toba highlands. During the trip you will pass hot sulphur springs at Sipoholon. From Tarutung, the center of the Protestant Batak church, you continue driving until Padang Sidempuan, a city in the middle of Mandailing land. Overnight stay in hotel Natama in Padang Sidempuan.
DAY 05. PADANG SIDEMPUAN / SIPIROK - BUKITTINGGI (B,L,D)
The route to Bukittingi in the Minangkabau highlands brings you again right through the Bukit Barisan mountainical ridge of Sumatra. It is an impressive tour in which you drive through a wall of tropical rain forest. En route you pass the equator in the place Bonjol. In the afternoon we arrive in the cool and pleasant town of Bukittingi. Overnight stay in Bukittinggi.
Day 06. FULL DAY BUKIT TINGGI TOUR (B,L,D)
Trip to the Harau Nature Reserve with huge rock formations, the Minangkabau Palace in Pagaruyung and Lake Singkarak. Overnight stay in Bukittinggi.
DAY 07. FULL DAY BUKIT TINGGI TOUR (B,L,D)
In the morning city tour taking in 'Fort De Kock', the museum, the market and the 'Karbouwengat'. The former Fort De Kock lies on a strategic point where you have an excellent view of the surounding mountains. Next you can visit the Minangkabau museum, the colourful marketplace and the famous canyon 'Karbouwengat' (Ngarai Sianok). After these visits we depart for the mysterious lake Maninjau, along the way descending to the lake by the 44 curves. Overnight stay in Maninjau in a fine hotel on the mountain overlooking the lake.
DAY 08. MANINJAU - SIKUAI(B,L,D)
Today you go to Padang via the beautiful Anai valley with the Anai waterfall. The harbour city of Padang on the Indian ocean is the economic centre of West Sumatra. Upon arrival in Padang, we will transfer you to the harbour to depart by boat for around 45 minutes to reach the island Sikuai from Padang. Sikua is a tropical Robinson Crusoe island with white sandy beaches. You can do diving and snorkeling in the fascinating 'sea garden' in front of your room. The Karambia Pusako Hotel on Sikuai island is surrounded by lush tropical gardens direct on the waterfront. You stay in cosy timber comfortable airconditioned cottages.
DAY 09. FREE PROGRAM (B,D)
Sikuai island - own program. Overnight stay in Karambia Pusako Hotel on Sikuai island.
DAY 10. SIKUAI ISLAND - PADANG (B)
Sikuai island - transfer by boat to Padang. On arrival you proceed to the airport of Padang for flight to next destination. End of your individual tour in Sumatra.
