DAY 01. ARRIVAL IN MEDAN / MEDAN CITY TOUR (D)
After arrival in Medan our guide will meet you in the airport and
accompany you on a Medan city tour among others passing the remaining Dutch,
English, Chinese and Malay style buildings. We stay overnight in Hotel Deli
River. The hotel is situated just outside Medan and is surrounded by a
tropical garden. Here you can just relax or make a walk in the neighbourhood.
DAY 02. MEDAN - SAMOSIR VIA BRASTAGI (B,L,D)
After breakfast we start our tour to Lake Toba. Via an impressive route
through forests we reach the mountain village of Brastagi in the Karo
highlands. After a stop in Brastagi we continue the route to Lake Toba along
pineapple, clove and ginger plantations. En route we make stops at the tribal
kings' house of the Simalungun Batak in Pematang Purba and the
Sipisopiso Waterfall. The waterfall emerges from an underground cave and
then drops 120 meters into the deep. In the afternoon we arrive in Prapat
at the famous
Lake Toba from where we cross over to the island of Samosir. The
car goes with us to the island. We stay overnight in facilities at the lakeside.

DAY 03. SAMOSIR - TOUR TO TOMOK, AMBARITA AND
SIMANINDO (B,L,D)
On the beautiful island Samosir you can visit the typical Toba Batak
villages: Tomok with its kings' tombs, Ambarita with its execution
tables and in Simanindo you can see traditional Batak dances. We stay
overnight on Samosir.
DAY 04. SAMOSIR - SIPHOLON - PADANG SIDEMPUAN (B,L,D)
In the early morning we will cross the lake to Prapat from where we
leave for Padang Sidempuan. We will pass the southern shores of Lake
Toba with its lovely rice fields and huge Batak kings' graves and travel
through the Toba highlands. During the trip we will pass the hot sulphur
springs at Sipoholon. Via Tarutung, the center of the
Protestant Batak Church, we continue our tour until Padang Sidempuan, a
town in the middle of the Mandailing district. We will stay overnight in
Hotel Natama in Padang Sidempuan.
DAY 05. PADANG SIDEMPUAN / SIPIROK - BUKITTINGGI
(B,L,D)
Today our tour continues to Bukittinggi in the Minangkabau highlands. We drive
again through the mountain range called Barisan Mountains. It
is an impressive tour which leads us through tropical rain forests. En route we
cross the equator in the place Bonjol. In the afternoon we arrive in the
cool and pleasant town of Bukittinggi where we will stay overnight.
Day 06. FULL DAY BUKITTINGGI TOUR (B,L,D)
After breakfast we make a trip to Harau Nature Reserve with
its huge rock formations, the Minangkabau Palace in Pagaruyung and
Lake Singkarak. From there we drive back to stay overnight in
Bukittinggi again.
DAY 07. FULL DAY BUKIT TINGGI TOUR (B,L,D)
In the morning we make a city tour visiting Fort De Kock, the
Minangkabau Museum, the market and the Karbouwengat. The
former Fort De Kock lies on a strategic point where you have an excellent view
at the surrounding mountains. Next we visit the Minangkabau Museum, the
colourful marketplace and the famous canyon 'Karbouwengat' (Ngarai Sianok)After
this we leave for the mysterious Lake Maninjau. On the way there we drive
down to the lake by following the 44 curves in the road. We stay overnight in
Maninjau in a hotel situated on a mountain overlooking the lake.

DAY 08. MANINJAU - SIKUAI (B,L,D)
After breakfast we leave for Padang passing the beautiful Anai valley
with the Anai waterfall. The harbour city of Padang is the economic
centre of West Sumatra. Upon arrival in Padang we will drive to the harbour.
From there we cross by an about 45 minutes boat trip to the Island
Sikuai. Sikua is a tropical Robinson Crusoe island with white sandy
beaches. Here you have the possibility to scuba dive or snorkel in the
fascinating 'sea garden' just in front of your room. The Sukuai Island Resort
on Sikuai island is situated direct on the waterfront. You stay in cosy and
comfortable air-conditioned wooden cottages.
DAY 09. FREE PROGRAM SIKUAI ISLAND (B,D)
Sikuai Island - own free program. Overnight stay in Sukuai Island Resort
on Sikuai island.
DAY 10. SIKUAI ISLAND - PADANG AIRPORT (B)
Sikuai Island - transfer by boat to Padang. There you are brought to the
airport of Padang for catching your flight to your next destination. Here
your individual tour in Sumatra ends.
